FAQs

   1. I’ve Never Installed Vinyl Before. HELP!

Make sure to review our instructional video and this FAQ fully before starting. It may seem simple but there are some tips and tricks that can make your installation easy and fun!

    2. I Got a Bubble or Wrinkle in My Decal. Is it Ruined?

All of our printed decals are made with air-release vinyl. This means that all you need to do is press on the bubble with your fingers and the bubble will come out fairly easily. We don’t suggest using a squeegee to remove bubbles as it can compress them too much. If your bubble is compressed and isn’t coming out like it should OR your vinyl doesn’t include air release, use a small pin or sharp Xacto blade to “pop” the bubble. This will allow the air to release and won’t be noticeable later.

If your vinyl is wrinkled or worse, there are still things you can do. Our printed vinyl is not only UV laminated but is also made to be repositioned. Carefully lift up the vinyl and squeegee it back in place to remove the wrinkle. Severe wrinkles in the vinyl can also be removed with heat. You’ll be surprised how well it works. Add a bit of heat with a heat gun or hair dryer to the vinyl (prior to laying it on the surface) and most wrinkles and other issues will disappear like magic. Make sure not to use too much heat, less is more!

   3. I just opened my decal and the transfer paper isn’t sticking well to the backing paper. What gives?

This is normal with higher-grade vinyl. The transfer paper should only really stick to the decal. This means you need to be extra careful to ensure the transfer paper doesn’t stick to itself or the underside of the decal.

   4. I scratched the vinyl with the squeegee. What do I do?

Most light scratches will disappear with heat or with the sun. If the scratches are extra deep, vinyl repair kits or conditioners can help fix the issue.

   5. Is it ok to use a credit card instead of a squeegee?

We really don’t suggest using “stiff cards” however if that’s all you have, make sure to use lots of even pressure and don’t use the card on the vinyl directly after transfer paper has been removed. We sell squeegees on our site that include microfiber fabric and magnets. They’re better than most you see online and are a great addition to your vinyl installation kit.

   6. My vinyl isn’t sticking to the surface. Help!

We want to reiterate here that the vinyl we use has been tested again and again and is our first choice for partial wraps like this. However, keep the following reasons in mind:

A. Your surface might be an anti-stick plastic. Some vehicles (especially motorcycles) come with certain plastic parts that vinyl just doesn’t stick well too. You might need to take extra care when wrapping these areas. Vinyl builds adhesion over time so it might stick better after sitting on it overnight. If its still lifting up, it may have an anti-stick aspect to it that vinyl just won’t stick to.

B. You used Rainguard or similar before installing your vinyl. Products like this will ruin vinyl and not allow it to stick. If you’ve done this, you can try a “wet install” which might help remove the Rainguard from under the vinyl. Overall, our experience is that once put on a surface like this the vinyl is more or less ruined so please be careful not to use anti-stick products a few weeks before installing your new decals.

C. Its really cold out. Vinyl sticks better with heat. Too much heat can stretch the vinyl, which is why transfer tape is so helpful. It keeps the vinyl from stretching before it sticks to the surface. If its too cold out, the vinyl may have trouble sticking at all. Try and install your decals in a garage or in direct sunlight if you’ve purchased your decals in the winter months.
